A new game called Mystery Stories will be released next year and it will let you create your own stories in a “world” where the supernatural is real.
The game, which will be available for Windows, Mac and Linux, will be called The New World, and it’s described as a “spiritual adventure” that explores the paranormal in an alternate world that will be more real than our own.
There will be “many elements that will remain a mystery for players, but there will be something that can be revealed in this world, in which you will be able to play as a supernatural character and experience a story,” the developer said in a statement.
“In the new world you will discover the most advanced technologies and technologies from the past, such as a time machine, alien life forms, or alien technology.
As you explore the world, you will unlock the powers of your supernatural powers, and be able use them to help your friends, and the supernatural will be involved in a range of mysteries.
We will keep players guessing, and will be looking for ideas for future stories that can connect to the past in a more modern and immersive way.”
In The New New World players will be tasked with creating their own supernatural stories and will also have to choose between a “player character” and a “villain”, which will either be a human or an alien.
“We will also be able bring some new features to the table that will make the game more immersive, including an improved combat system, the ability to craft items, and an expanded crafting system,” the game developer added.
This is the first new game from The New York Times’ publishing arm since 2013’s The Devil’s Backbone, and comes just a week after the publication’s parent company, Dow Jones & Company, announced it was buying The New Yorker for $250m (£189m) in a deal that is expected to close in the next few months.
